The Story

Long ago, before “Buffalo Wings” became popular nationwide, they were a fan favorite in Western New York.  As Joe was going to college and working 2 jobs, being able to pick up a double order of hot chicken wings was a convenient and affordable meal.

The key to great wings has always been the sauce.

Most area restaurants made the ‘standard’ sauce by mixing hot sauce and melted butter. It tasted good but, unfortunately it was very greasy. That, combined with deep fried wings, led to many nights of indigestion. Most times, wings were consumed late at night after work or school, accompanied by several ice-cold beers, making the situation worse. But, Joe was not giving up on wings!

One of Joe’s jobs was working as a cook in a local restaurant. So, he decided to utilize that environment to experiment with different recipes and various concoctions.

His goal was to develop a superior tasting sauce that had great ‘cling’ without being greasy.

It took a couple of years to come up with just the right ingredients and process. He made various degrees of “heat” to appeal to a range of palettes. Persistence and creativity paid off as Joe finally came up with a recipe that allowed him to enjoy delicious wings without the indigestion!

Joe shared the sauce (but not the recipe). Feedback was fantastic. After keeping it limited to family and friends for decades, the feedback was so consistently good that his son, Joey, decided to pursue commercialization. After getting the food laboratory testing successfully completed and getting licensed, Joey G’s “More than Just” Wing Sauce can now be shared with the public! 

Joey G’s is so versatile that it can be used to jazz-up many foods—More than Just wings!

Use it as coating or dipping sauce for chicken, any meat, fish, shrimp, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, jalapeño poppers, chicken nuggets, scrambled eggs—the list is only limited by your imagination!
